We evaluated 82 Claude Code skill repos against GitHub signals and a skeptical non-engineer filter. These 57 survived — organized by what you actually do at work, not by what the developer who built them called the category.
Last updated: May 2026 · Next refresh: August 2026
The dominant Claude Code harness repository with 173K stars. 28 agents, 119 skills, and 60 slash commands covering everything from code review to content production. The non-engineer value is in the productivity patterns, memory architecture, and orchestration templates — though the majority of content targets developers. Think of it as a reference architecture, not a plug-and-play toolkit.
The most-starred Claude Code repo by a wide margin. Primarily developer-focused, but the general productivity patterns, memory management, and multi-agent orchestration sections are useful for anyone. Worth browsing even if you skip the engineering skills.
Anthropic's official skills repository and the canonical reference for the SKILL.md format. Includes document creation skills (Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel), visual design (canvas, brand-guidelines), and a meta-skill that helps you create new skills. Non-engineer friendly by design — these are the skills Anthropic built to show what knowledge workers can do with Claude Code.
The reference implementation. 17 skills covering document formats (docx, pdf, pptx, xlsx), design (canvas, brand-guidelines, algorithmic-art), and a skill-creator that builds new skills. If you install one repo, make it this one.

Content Production6.8K943Last commit: 2026-04
A specialized Claude Code workspace designed for one thing: creating long-form, SEO-optimized blog content. Narrower than general SEO tools but deeper on the content production pipeline.
Focused specifically on long-form SEO blog content production. Research, write, analyze, and optimize in one workflow. Less breadth than claude-seo but deeper on the content creation side. Good for teams that primarily need blog content that ranks.

Project management system for AI agents that enforces a structured pipeline: ideas become PRDs, PRDs decompose into epics, epics spawn GitHub Issues, and issues track through to production code. Data analytics skills covering the core analyst workflow: load CSV data, run analysis (statistical summaries, trend detection, anomaly identification), generate reports, and create visualizations. The immediate utility is the differentiator — drop a data file, ask questions, get charts and reports. No database setup, no coding, no data engineering. Just data in, insights out.
Practical data analytics skills: CSV analysis, automated reporting, and visualization generation. The "give Claude a CSV and get insights" use case is one of the most immediately useful things non-engineers can do with Claude Code.
Professional financial modeling toolkit for Claude Code. Build discounted cash flow models, leveraged buyout analyses, variance reports, and pivot tables using natural language instructions. The skill generates actual Excel files with proper formulas, formatting, and chart integration. Small GitHub presence but addresses a high-value use case — the financial modeling work that analysts spend days on manually.
Professional financial modeling toolkit: DCF models, LBO analysis, variance reports, and pivot tables using natural language. Small repo but fills a critical gap — financial analysts spend enormous time on these exact deliverables.

Legal & Compliance
Contract review, compliance auditing, and governance frameworks for legal and risk teams.
AI Legal Assistant with 14 skills and 5 parallel agents for legal operations: contract review with clause-by-clause analysis, risk scoring, NDA generation from templates, compliance auditing against multiple frameworks, negotiation strategy recommendations, and polished PDF report generation. The parallel agent architecture means complex documents get reviewed from multiple legal perspectives simultaneously.
The most complete legal AI toolkit for Claude Code. 14 skills and 5 parallel agents covering contract review, risk analysis, NDA generation, compliance auditing, negotiation strategy, and PDF report generation. Real legal workflows, not toy prompts.
Governance, Risk, and Compliance skills covering 18 regulatory and security frameworks: ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, FedRAMP, GDPR, HIPAA, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, PCI DSS, CMMC 2.0, DORA, EU NIS2, CCPA/CPRA, and more. Each framework has assessment skills, gap analysis, remediation planning, and evidence collection templates. Benchmarks at 95% coverage vs. the typical 80% threshold.
GRC skills covering 18 compliance frameworks including ISO 27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP, GDPR, HIPAA, NIST CSF, PCI DSS, CMMC 2.0, DORA, and EU NIS2. The framework breadth is the standout — most compliance tools cover 2-3 frameworks, this covers 18.
Curated legal skills — contract review, compliance, due diligence

Legal Discovery31430Last commit: 2026-03
Curated list of agent skills for automating legal work, maintained by Lawvable (a legal technology company). Covers contract review, compliance verification, and due diligence processes. The curation angle means someone with legal domain expertise is filtering for quality and relevance — not just aggregating everything with "legal" in the description.
Curated legal skills list from a legal tech company. Contract review, compliance checking, and due diligence automation. The curation is the value — Lawvable filters for legal-relevant skills from across the ecosystem rather than building everything in-house.

Personal Assistant123Last commit: 2025-11
Personal AI assistant for macOS with native AppleScript integration. Automates email management, calendar analysis, task orchestration, and daily planning by directly controlling macOS applications. The AppleScript approach means it can interact with your actual Mail app, Calendar, and Reminders — not just API wrappers. Limited to Mac users but the native OS integration is deeper than cross-platform alternatives.
Personal productivity assistant for macOS with AppleScript integration — email management, calendar intelligence, task orchestration, and daily planning. The native macOS integration via AppleScript is unique but limits it to Mac users.
Brand guidelines skills with style guide templates

Brand Tools111Last commit: 2025-10
Brand guidelines enforcement skills with style guide templates. Helps create brand identity documents and ensures Claude-generated content adheres to established brand standards — colors, typography, voice, messaging hierarchy. Small repo with minimal activity, but brand consistency is a genuine pain point that few other skills address directly.
Brand guidelines skills that help create and enforce consistent brand identity. Style guide templates and brand voice enforcement. Small and aging repo, but brand guidelines is an underserved skill category. Check compatibility before adopting.
A deceptively simple skill that changes Claude's default behavior from confirmatory to critical. Instead of agreeing with your ideas, Claude is forced to evaluate them skeptically, identify weak assumptions, and push back on flawed reasoning. Small in scope but addresses a fundamental AI interaction problem: confirmation bias. Useful for anyone making decisions — strategy, content, hiring, investments.
A single-purpose skill that prevents Claude from automatically agreeing with you. Forces critical evaluation of assumptions and pushback on weak reasoning. Tiny but philosophically important — the best skill on this list might be the one that makes Claude disagree with you more.
How We Evaluate Claude Code Skills
Tier 1 — Quantitative GitHub Signals
Stars, forks, last commit date, 52-week commit activity, and contributor count. Repos below “acceptable” on 3+ signals were cut unless they filled a unique category gap (e.g., the only repo for HR skills or GRC compliance). All data refreshes quarterly via the GitHub API.
Tier 2 — Skeptical Non-Engineer Questions
Can a non-technical person install this? Git clone + paste vs. complex setup with dependencies.
Does it produce real output? Actual documents, analyses, and workflows — not just a glorified prompt.
Is this actually a skill or a prompt library? We filtered for repos with real SKILL.md structure, not README prompt collections.
Does it work with current Claude Code? Many repos target older versions or different platforms entirely.
Is the documentation clear enough for someone without a CS degree? If the README assumes you know what a “submodule” is, that’s a flag.
What We Cut
25 candidates failed this process. Common reasons: developer-only tooling (linters, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks), abandoned repos with no commits in 6+ months, prompt collections without real skill structure (a README full of copy-paste prompts is not a skill), forks that duplicate existing entries, and repos targeting specialized technical audiences (ML paper writing, penetration testing, bioinformatics).

Why This List Exists
Skills are how Claude Code becomes useful for non-engineers — they encode domain expertise, enforce methodology, and produce real deliverables. But finding the right skill repo means digging through developer-centric GitHub repos where the README assumes you know TypeScript. We did that filtering so you don't have to, and we'll keep doing it quarterly.
