Readiness Assessment

When to Implement Claude Code for Your GTM Org

Not everyone needs professional Claude Code setup. Here's how to know if you do, which tier fits, and when the honest answer is "not yet."

The 10 Readiness Signals

Score yourself honestly. Each signal is binary: you have it or you don't.

1

You have workflows that repeat weekly

You have this if: You can name 3+ tasks you do every week that follow roughly the same steps.

2

You spend time on assembly, not just thinking

You have this if: More than 30% of your work time goes to gathering, formatting, or synthesizing.

3

You already use 3+ digital tools daily

You have this if: You actively use 3+ tools (CRM, email, content CMS, analytics) daily.

4

You've hit a productivity plateau

You have this if: You've used AI tools for 2+ months and can't point to improvement in the last 30 days.

5

Institutional knowledge lives in people, not systems

You have this if: A team member's departure would take 2+ weeks for their replacement to recover from.

6

Your team is willing to adopt new tools

You have this if: Your team successfully adopted at least one new tool in the past 12 months.

7

You have budget authority or a learning stipend

You have this if: You can authorize $1,500-$25K within 2 weeks.

8

You can describe your ideal output

You have this if: You can describe 2-3 specific outputs you wish you could produce faster or more consistently.

9

You have existing content to feed the system

You have this if: You have at least 10 documents representing accumulated knowledge or processes.

10

The cost of NOT implementing is measurable

You have this if: You can estimate the weekly cost (time or money) of your current manual approach.

What your score means

8-10

Ready now

Infrastructure, budget, and pain all present. Professional implementation will produce immediate ROI.

Book a discovery call. We'll determine scope in 20 minutes.

5-7

Ready with preparation

Close but have gaps. Common missing: budget timing, team willingness, or output specificity.

Address missing signals first. Come back in 2-4 weeks.

3-4

Not yet (and that's fine)

You'd benefit eventually, but professional implementation now would be premature.

Try the DIY path for 2-3 months. Read the setup guide.

0-2

Wrong tool, wrong time

Your bottlenecks are elsewhere. Better processes, tools, or team alignment needed first.

Focus on foundational workflow design before layering AI.

Signal-to-tier mapping

Personal Tier (~$1,500)

Solo operator hitting the ceiling

  • Strong on Signals 1-4 (workflow, assembly, tools, plateau)
  • Signal 8 present (specific output goals)
  • Signal 5 less critical (individual, not team)

AE with learning stipend. Marketing director wearing 4 hats. Early-stage operator needing systems.

Bespoke Tier ($10K-25K)

Team building knowledge infrastructure

  • Strong on Signal 5 (institutional knowledge gap) and 9 (content to feed)
  • Signal 10 quantifiable at team level
  • Multiple people will use the system

First GTM hire at funded startup. CRO building infrastructure. PE value creation team.

DIY Path (Free)

Signals 1-3 present but 4 absent (no plateau yet). Budget tight. Learning is enjoyable. You have 40+ hours to invest in self-directed setup. Start with the complete setup guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can my team use Claude Code if they're not technical?

Yes. The Personal tier is designed for non-engineers. If your team can use email and spreadsheets, they can operate Claude Code after professional setup. The barrier is in configuration, not operation.

Should I try DIY first and then hire help if I get stuck?

Legitimate path. The tradeoff: 40-80 hours before hitting the plateau. At $150/hr loaded rate, that's $6K-12K opportunity cost for education. If you value speed to results, professional setup from day one is cheaper in total cost.

How quickly should I see results?

Personal: working system day 1, power user by day 14. Bespoke: first deliverables week 1, full system week 4, compound value measurable by month 2.

What if my org needs enterprise-grade compliance?

STEEPWORKS isn't the right fit for SOC 2, SSO, or vendor security reviews. For enterprise requirements, look at larger consulting firms with established compliance programs.
