Skill Audit
The process of inventorying available skills before starting complex work to identify relevant capabilities and avoid reinventing existing workflows.
Skill audit is a mandatory pre-step for any complex task (3+ phases). Before planning or executing, you run Glob .claude/skills/*/SKILL.md to list all available skills and identify which ones are relevant. This prevents two common failures: building a custom workflow when a production skill already exists, and missing a quality gate that an existing skill would have caught. With 52+ skills in production, it is easy to forget that a research-prospect skill exists when you are manually assembling company intel. The skill audit takes 30 seconds and has saved hours of redundant work. If generating a PRD, the relevant skills get documented in a dedicated section.
