How This Works in Practice

On a recent PE-owned manufacturing engagement, the Engagement Kickoff workflow built the client context file in 40 minutes. The Upstream/Downstream Separation

One pattern that took me three engagements to learn: research and recommendation must be separate stages with separate prompts. I wrote about this as the upstream/downstream principle. No. It replaces the parts of junior consultant work that are collection and formatting: pulling data, structuring documents, assembling decks. It doesn't replace analysis, judgment, or client relationship management. In practice, I've seen it make junior consultants more effective because they spend less time on assembly and more time on the thinking that actually develops their skills. A junior analyst who spends 70% of their time copying data into slides doesn't learn consulting. One who spends that time interpreting data does.

What about client data confidentiality?
